We are proud to offer memorable educational experiences for deaf students abroad, giving them a chance to travel to other countries to learn about their history and culture while adding on a special focus on their deaf community. Ever since starting our educational tours program in 2008, we have worked with many programs at the high school and college/university levels.
Each tour was fully customized to the school’s preferences, and HOT had worked closely with them throughout the process to ensure a successful outcome. Those schools have found HOT tours to be very beneficial as their students were able to relate and communicate directly with the deaf guides in a profound way as opposed to their previous experiences with hearing tour guides using ASL interpreters.
For many deaf students, those international tours are one of their first opportunities to travel abroad, and our aim is to provide them with the richest and fullest experience possible because we believe travel serves an essential and educational purpose.
If your school is planning future international tours for deaf students, we are at your service. You would have full involvement in the process of designing the tour, and we would take care of all the necessary logistics in order to make your trip a full success. What’s more, our tours are deaf-centered where your deaf students get to visit local deaf schools and deaf-owned businesses, and to meet local deaf leaders. If your school does not have a large number of deaf students, don’t worry as we would be able to combine 2 or 3 schools into a single tour.
We are also competitive in the per-person price versus other leading tour operators, while the value to your school comes without any sacrifice in quality. Our 4 tour guides who work on school tours, Ronise Barreras, Dan Brubaker, Darren Frazier and Terry Giansanti, bring experience in working with deaf students and the capability to manage such specific groups. As deaf professionals, we can also serve as role models for your students.
